"Going into my first year visual arts class, I wanted to study the place of machinery/technology in nature, mainly because of my interest in the natural sciences and especially physics. In particular, I wanted to explore how machinery and technology are used by man and the place these have in our world. However, I soon felt that this theme was too narrow and my concepts became too specific. As the year progressed, I got inspired by what I was learning in my geography class, in particular issues surrounding climate change and resource consumption. These issues really resonated with me as I spend my summers on a barrier island that is very vulnerable to climate change. This significantly influenced my decision to explore the impact that humans have on nature, thus my theme: Man vs. Nature." - Me, 2019
